August 13th -    It's been awhile since our last update so I wanted to let you all know how things are going
and what we have been up to. Over the last six weeks, we have been out talking to as many people as we
can, knocking on doors and going to community events. I have to say that it is quite an experience, running
for the State Assembly. I knew how much work it was going to be, but I didn't realize how much fun we were
going to have along the way. A good portion of my time lately has been taken up by going door-to-door in
the Green Bay area, getting to know the people and their concerns. The response has been humbling and
the support has been gratifying. People are continuing to tell me how much they want someone
representing them that is interested in taking on the tough issues. I am up to the challenge. I'm looking
forward to getting to know as many of the voters as I can and will be working hard between now and
November 4th to get that done! I hope to see all of you at our next event which features our guest, Speaker
of the Assembly Mike Huebsch!

June 14th - 22nd -   I spent a good portion of the week knocking on doors in both Freedom and Seymour,
circulating nomination papers and talking about the issues. It always surprises me how hospitable and
welcoming people are when I show up on their doorstep. I was particularly struck by a story that a senior
citizen told me along the way. She told me how she and her husband had worked all of their lives, raised a
family, and lived in the same home the entire time. Now that her husband has passed, she is having a hard
time affording the home they shared all of those years. Between the high cost of gas, property taxes, and
heating and cooling her home, she is afraid that the time is coming that she will have to sell. To see
someone being forced from their family home after 30+ years in part because of high property taxes is
heartbreaking. Legislators need to realize the effect that their votes have on people like her. It is stories like
hers that solidify my belief that we need to get a handle on property taxes in this state. People cannot afford
the excesses of state government anymore.

June 7th -   We took part in our first parade this weekend. Little Chute held its annual Cheese Parade on
Saturday and by all accounts it was an overwhelming success. I was so grateful for all of the support we
received along the parade route and as usual, the streets were packed with people. Topping off the day
was the reaction of my two boys who had a great time riding their "Gator" right down the middle of the street.

June 1st -  It was our first gathering of supporters today. We all got together for an afternoon of BBQ,
conversation, and of course volleyball! As the afternoon went on and the topic of conversation turned to the
economy, jobs, and more, it became clear to me that everyone has the same concerns. Everyone is
frustrated as they work harder and harder and never seem to get ahead. Then I turned and watched as the
kids played without a care and it made me even more resolved to work as hard as I can to make things
better, their future brighter. I don't want them worrying about the same things we were worrying about this
day. It's our responsibility to leave them a better world, a better Wisconsin. Today, I saw people that were
ready to make a change and it gave me hope.

May 26th, Seymour -   Heather, the kids and I all drove to Seymour to enjoy the Memorial Day festivities
there. We had a fantastic time visiting with people and taking time to honor the troops. The meaning of the
day really hit home with us as we spoke to Julie from Seymour who has two boys serving in the armed
forces in Iraq. Thinking of her sons and their sacrifice for all of us back home can't help but make you
appreciate all that we have been given by those that have been willing to fight so that those back home can
be safe. So thank you, all of you that have served in any capacity in war time or in peace. Your sacrifice
and that of your families cannot ever be repaid and will never be forgotten.
                                       ***CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCEMENT**

October 2nd -   Last Wednesday September 24th, my campaign sent a letter to my opponent, Tom Nelson
requesting that he join me in a 3 part series of public forums to discuss the ever increasingly volatile economy
and to share our views on how best to solve those problems here at home. In the letter, which you can
view here,
we requested that the Nelson campaign respond by October 1st in order to have sufficient time to set the
parameters as well as the dates and times. Unfortunately, as of today, Mr. Nelson has failed to respond. After
considering all of the options, I have decided to move forward with these forums with or without his participation.
As I go door to door, I continue to find people that are hurting, having a tough time affording the increasing costs
of gas, food, and health care. These people deserve the opportunity to question their candidates and hear our
views. I have released the details of the upcoming forums, and you can download a copy of the press release by
clicking here. I hope you will have the opportunity to join me at one of these forums.
